As we head into a new year it is time to look at which inflatable stand up paddle boards are the top picks for 2019.
With so many SUP companies out there now it can be hard to know where to look, which board to choose and which ones are even worth considering.
We have a good concept as to what makes for a great board, what is needed or not needed on a paddle board and which companies are going to provide you with that perfect ride.
We also look closely at customer service and we won’t be recommending any companies that don’t excel in this area.
Just like you if we have a question or an issue we want an immediate answer. We want to know that we as the customer matter to the company.
In the end we have narrowed it down to 4 boards that we love… all for different reasons. All four get 5 gold stars in quality, performance, details and customer service.
1. The Hero SUP Crusader
Hero SUP is the new kid on the block as of early 2018 and we love them. We’ve had the opportunity to try a couple of their boards and fell in love with them both.
However we feel the Crusader SUP in particular really excels at being a great all-around versatile paddle board that anyone could feel good about riding regardless if your a total newbie or an advanced rider.
The Crusader includes all the right features and isn’t bogged down with useless ones that just get in the way. This is a high quality board offered at a wicked price.
The mid range price tag is refreshing as you’ll find quality and performance wise this board could easily compete with the higher priced ISUP’s on the market. We suggest taking a good look at this one.
2. Red Paddle Co Ride
This one is higher priced but the Ride will deliver. The colors and design have changed over the years but it has always remained a favorite.
The Ride can be used on calm water and handles ocean chop well. We don’t find the glide to be as could as we’d like but in every other way it is a really fun board to ride.
Our only gripe… You’ll pay a premium for this one.
3. The Atoll 11′ ISUP
We have a soft spot for smaller companies that are working on doing big things. Atoll is just that. Their 11′ inflatable paddle board is a winner on Amazon.com and we have really enjoyed paddling it.
There’s nothing flashy about this one but it’s easy to ride, glides better than you would think and comes with a good package to get started.
The Atoll board is great for beginners and for those who prefer a lower price point. Plus it is really lightweight and easy to carry.
4. iRocker Cruiser
The iRocker Cruiser is a beginners board that will provide ultra stability. Although we have to admit that we find the Cruiser slowwwww, there’s no denying that it feels safe and stable to ride.
For that reason any beginner will love starting out on this paddle board. Use it for cruising around, try a little SUP yoga or bring your dog along for the ride.
This ISUP will feel safe and easy to paddle. You may outgrow it after awhile once you’re skills improve but you’ll get a lot of good use out of it before that point.
