Atoll 11’ Inflatable Paddle Board Review

Admin · January 3, 2019 ·

Atoll only has one board. You’d think a small company like this one wouldn’t come up with a winner right off the bat but their 11’ paddle board is a good one.

This is a basic beginner SUP that is stable, easy to ride but has a nice design, a tapered nose and paddles surprisingly well.

Overview

Price Point: Under $1000

Build: Inflatable double layer laminated construction

Skill Level: Beginner to Novice

Use: Stable touring design.

Size: 11’ long, 32” wide, 6” thick

Weight: 19 lbs.

Load Capacity: 350+ lbs.

Details

If you’ve never paddled before and you want a starter board that is stable, feels easy to paddle yet performs well enough that you don’t get bored then the Atoll is a good choice.

This ISUP glides nicely on flat water but also feels quite good on ocean wake.

The back end feels steady and although you lose a bit of room up front with the tapered nose, there is still space to paddle with a dog or bring your kid along with you.

The price point is going to appeal to those looking for a base board that can be used for days at the lake or summer fun at the beach.

Design

The color choices for this board are earthy and understated. This board is not flashy but simple in design.

The shape is designed for touring but not necessarily for speed.

The 32” width provides ample stability and the tapered nose keeps it cutting through the water smoothly.

A board this wide is never going to be that fast however this one glides faster and smoother than most of this size.

The 11’ length makes it easy to handle and carry. It’s not so long that it becomes hard to turn and not too short that that you can’t load it up with added weight.

We have really enjoyed paddling the Atoll paddle board on lakes and along the ocean coastline.

Features

Neoprene Carry Handle

The center handle has a stitched neoprene cover. It isn’t removable but it does add some padding and comfort when carrying this board.

Bungee Tie-Down Cords

There is a large front bungee section for securing your gear.

In truth we find the bungees to be a bit on the large side and they can get in the way if you have a dog on board.

However for bringing along lots of gear, they work great.

D-Rings

There are multiple D-ring attachments on this board that can be used to secure your gear, a cooler, or even a seat.

US Fin Box With 8” Touring Fin

With the US fin box the 8” touring fin secures easily with a bolt and screw.

With this fin the tracking is really quite good making the Atoll nice to ride in open water.

Attached Side Fins

Although we prefer these side fins to be removable we still appreciate that there are three fins to help with stability and performance.

EVA Traction Pad

The traction pad isn’t huge but it’s comfortable and provides good grip.

Package:

Included with the Atoll board package is:

Backpack – In truth we are not a huge fan of this backpack. It’s basic and in our opinion needs to be upgraded as there are much better options being offered by other ISUP companies

However considering the lower price of this board we are not going to complain.

The bag has mesh sides that allow the board to breathe, it has adjustable shoulder straps and a waist clip.

It’s easy to carry but we didn’t find it that comfortable to carry too long of a distance.

3-Piece Aluminum Paddle – The 3-piece travel paddle is also very basic. However it is durable, adjustable and fine for beginner use.

10’ Coiled SUP Leash – The SUP leash is great and we are happy to see it included in the package.

Attach one end to your ankle and the other end to the back D-ring to stay safe and close to your board in case you should fall off.

Hand Pump – The double stage hand pump works great and allows you to inflate the board up to 12-15 PSI in about 7-8 minutes.

Repair Kit – Included in the repair kit is a couple of PVC patches, waterproof glue and a valve tightener.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t a high-end board but if we’re honest we think Atoll created a very nice beginner board that is not only functional but just really nice to ride.

We can’t give this one five stars but it is a solid 4 star paddle board, which is sometimes all you need to get started.

Plus it comes at a great price on Amazon.com.
